The first thing we will do on this page is create a sloper, or second skin, of your Muppet.
Note: Drawings are not to scale.
Make a Guide Sheet
A guide sheet is a piece of paper that has the center marks already on it. I find it extremely
helpful to have one while drafting, however this step is optional.
- Take one sheet of paper and make a mark down the center longways and shortways.
- Turn this piece of paper landscape and tape it to your surface. (Fig. 2)

Make a Body Pattern
- Take a new sheet of paper and line it up with the top of the page, so that you can see the halfway mark. (Fig.3)
- Center the line for the neck on the guide line.
- Measure from the outside edges, and mark the length of the cone on both sides.
- Connect these marks with a line.
- Repeat step 4 for the base of the cone.
- Make a line connecting the neck and base.
- Start at the neck line and measure down the length from neck to arm.
- Start the base line and measure up the length from base to under arm.
- Make half circle, with a radius that equals half the wrist. You will probably need to resize this once you start building. (Fig. 4)
